Fred Vasseur has agreed with the idea that Lewis Hamilton's pride is suffering as his Ferrari woes continue.
In Las Vegas, Hamilton qualified slowest on pure pace for the first time in his 378 grands prix, and although he did climb through the field to finish 10th on the road and eighth in the final results after McLaren's double disqualified, he branded the result as "meaningless."
Hamilton has previously described his first season at Ferrari as a "nightmare", and has yet to record a grand prix podium, with only two chances remaining to do so to preserve his record of a podium in every season of his career.
Since the summer break, Hamilton has scored 43 points in eight races with a best of fourth in the United States, with the Briton even claiming after Vegas that he was not looking forward to 2026, even with the new breed of cars set for introduction.
Reflecting on the situation, his team principal, Vasseur, spotted a positive in that he felt Hamilton's misery at the poor results was a good sign.
When asked by media, including RacingNews365, if Hamilton's pride was being affected by the poor season, Vasseur indicated he believed it was.
"Yes. I think you can understand that it’s normal that Lewis is not happy with P10 in Vegas," he said.
"Ferrari is not happy with P10 in Vegas, and Ferrari is not happy with P6 in Vegas.
"But now the reaction is to work together to try to do a better job next week [in Qatar], and it’s the life of the team.
"If you remember, Max [Verstappen] was P11 in Budapest, and it was not the absolute drama.
"We need to keep this approach and to come back again and again and to try to push again and again and to try to do a better job.
"The frustration is normal. I would be worried if we didn’t have this kind of frustration. We are winners, and Lewis I, when we are doing P10."
