Franco Colapinto has revealed the level of damage he sustained in his Chinese GP crash with Esteban Ocon.
Fresh out of the pits after going long on the hard tyres, Colapinto was spun by Ocon, who attempted to dive up the inside of Turn 2 whilst the Argentine was still on cold tyres.
The two collided, with Ocon immediately taking responsibility and being handed a 10-second time penalty by the stewards for the incident as he finished well out of the points.
Colapinto, whose management put out a statement post-race telling fans not to send death threats to Ocon, managed to recover and finish in 10th place, banking a first point of the season.
It was the first time the Alpine driver had scored a points finish since the 2024 United States GP, when he was 10th for Williams, as Alpine scored a double-points finish for the first time since the 2024 Sao Paulo GP, as Pierre Gasly finished a strong sixth.
"It is frustrating, it was a very good start on the hard tyres, and I was in a really good position on the hard tyres and going long.
"We stopped three laps after Esteban. I came out in front, and he hit me on the right rear.
"I had a big hole on the floor, which was not great for performance, but he came and said sorry, so it is all good.
"We had a nice fight with each other during the race, it was really close, but at the end, it didn't finish well, but he apologised, and it is all fine."
