Franco Colapinto is expected to stay with Alpine for the 2026 F1 season. RacingNews365 reported earlier in the week that the 22-year-old has an extension incoming to continue partnering Pierre Gasly.
It has yet to be announced by Team Enstone, but it will see the Argentine driver enjoy Mercedes power next term, along with his team-mate.
After taking over the second Alpine seat from Jack Doohan after the Miami Grand Prix, Colapinto struggled to find his footing with the troublesome A525.
He has yet to score a point this season, but has shown improvement in recent rounds, closing the delta to Gasly, to the extent Flavio Briatore has decided to further allow him to make his case.
The only option the Italian was considering was reserve driver Paul Aron. Yuki Tsunoda or Liam Lawson could be without a seat come the end of the year, but Alpine is not considering options further afield.
In a recent poll conducted by RacingNews365, 54% of voters backed Colapinto, with the remaining respondents feeling that a different option would be the way to go.
