Former Formula 1 host the Circuito de Jerez has been struck by horrific flooding, following the latest extreme weather in Spain.
At the end of 2024, several Spanish regions experienced significant flooding after extraordinary rainfall, resulting in last-minute changes by multiple championships.
Last year, MotoGP moved its season finale from Valencia to Barcelona due to flood damage and not wanting to take attention away from the flood relief, whilst Formula E moved its pre-season test from Valencia to Madrid for the same reason.
MotoGP is set to race in Jerez next month, with the circuit now facing a race against the clock to recover from the extreme weather.
Video footage of the start/finish straight being underwater circulated on social media Monday evening, with large parts of Spain having experienced yet more staggering volumes of rainfall.
Jerez hosted F1's Spanish Grand Prix from 1986-1990, before it became the host of the European Grand Prix from 1994-1997.
Whilst F1 has not raced at the Spanish venue in almost 28 years, it remains a popular venue for private testing.
