The FIA has said it will make a final decision regarding the Cadillac F1 entry within a matter of weeks.
Cadillac is gearing up to join the grid next season, when new technical regulations come into play, after it reached an agreement in principle with F1 late last year.
The team has been in the works for some time, with the project initially started by former F1 driver Michael Andretti, whose bid to join was accepted by the FIA.
However, F1 voiced concerns over the original set-up as it held doubts over how competitive the team would be.
This was despite commitment from General Motors (GM), who signed up to build and supply power units to Andretti’s team - albeit several years after Andretti planned to debut his squad.
A series of organisational changes last year saw Michael Andretti step away from a leadership position, with GM having increased involvement in the project.
Having reached an agreement with GM in late 2024, F1 continued to monitor the situation and is now nearing the end of its evaluation.
"The FIA is currently reviewing the Cadillac entry," an FIA spokesperson told RacingNews365. "We are in the final stages of due diligence and hope to conclude the process soon.
"We are in the final steps of this process, and we anticipate reaching a resolution within a matter of weeks."

Key Cadillac F1 developments
Cadillac has made several key hires across the last couple of months, bringing on Pat Symonds as its chief technical officer.
Symonds has extensive experience working in the sport and recently worked with F1 itself as a leader of its technical department.
It has also signed Graeme Lowdon as its team principal, who last held a position at the forefront of an F1 team at the now defunct Manor squad.
Cadillac has already struck a deal with Ferrari, with the Italian squad set to supply it with power units and gearboxes in 2026 and 2027 as General Motors continues to construct its own engine.
Regarding the strict budget cap that is in place, the FIA has confirmed the limit the current 10 teams are bound to "would apply to Cadillac if their entry for the 2026 season is finalised".
