Ferrari boss Fred Vasseur has explained how the team will "start from scratch" at the Monaco Grand Prix to try and overcome its qualifying weaknesses.
The SF-25 is a car which is superior over race distances as opposed to single lap qualifying pace, which is a more important factor in determining the result in Monaco than race pace.
Charles Leclerc, the defending race-winner, is not optimistic of a second straight home win, believing it could be a tough weekend for the Scuderia, which suffered a double Q2 elimination at Imola.
Lewis Hamilton rallied from 12th to finish fourth with Leclerc sixth from 11th on the grid as Ferrari showed flashes of pace.
Heading to the Principality, Vasseur feels Ferrari must simply work through the problems it is facing over a single lap to maximise its result.
"Even when we are in good shape in the race, we are still behind the McLaren, and what is clear over the last three or four events is that we have much better pace in the race than in qualifying," Vasseur told media including RacingNews365.
"In Jeddah, we were the fastest car on track on Sunday, and then in Miami, we were much faster in the race than in qualifying.
"It is clear we are trying to extract the best car on Saturdays, and in the last two weekends, [we didn't have strong pace,] but we can't find the reasons.
"For sure, we need to put all of our efforts into this, but next weekend in Monaco, on Saturday evening, it will almost be done, and that means we have to have much more performance on Saturday.
"We want to do a better job than this weekend, but it will be much more difficult.
"Monaco is a different story in terms of tyre management, preparation, so we will start from scratch to understand the issues and do a better job in the future."
