As the race pulled itself back into daylight, Ferrari continued to dominate the race as it flexed the pace that has been on display throughout the entire World Endurance Championship.

However, Ferrari was forced to deal with an internal headache as the #83 customer car driven by Robert Kubica closed in on the leading #51 machine.

Kubica requested to be let by the car being driven by Antonio Giovinazzi as he stated he felt he had stronger pace, adding the point he had helped the other car on multiple occasions earlier in the race.

The battle cooled off as the two Ferraris made their pit stops around the 6-hour 20-minute mark, placing the #6 Porsche momentarily in the lead before a stop of its own.

The leading duo were also hit with drive-through penalties for yellow flag infringements.

Cadillac's woes continued as following the retirement of the #101 car through the night, the #311 also hit technical issues, forcing it to pull out of the race.

Alpine's #36 caused a full-course yellow after a spin into the gravel for Jules Gounon.

Other classes - Leading #43 LMP2 car under investigation

The #43 Inter Europol car continues to lead the LMP2 class but faces an investigation for gaining a lasting advantage off the track.

With a small gap to second place behind, any potential penalty could prove disastrous for the entry.

In LMGT3, the #92 Porsche holds a lead of one minute over second place but has not enjoyed an error-free run.

The team was hit with a penalty for a yellow flag infringement, the same punishment that befell the leading Hypercar entries.

RacingNews365's next report will be at the chequered flag, which will see the winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans declared!
