Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur has stated Charles Leclerc faced “no issues” after making a significant adjustment to his brakes this weekend in Barcelona.

Leclerc was critical of his brakes in Monaco last weekend and blamed the Brembo set-up for his late-race crash - prompting a response from the manufacturer.

The Monegasque stated that he would switch to Lewis Hamilton's configuration for Barcelona amid rumours that Hamilton had moved to Carbon Industries brake discs earlier this year.

Leclerc was the faster of the two Ferraris on Friday as he looks to bounce back from his challenging result last Sunday.

“It went well,” Vasseur said when asked about the new brakes. “He needed a couple of laps to accomadate, but he did well.

“In the end he did well, no issues.”

Ferrari fitted a large upgrade package to its car ahead of FP1, obtaining valuable information as it compared it to its old package.

As was the case with several other teams, the biggest challenge it faced was related to the Pirelli tyres.

“It’s an odd Friday, odd for everybody,” Vasseur said. “You know Barcelona, it’s very difficult to put a lap together in these conditions. It’s the same for everybody.

“We had a lot of new elements on the car, a new package, different components. It meant we had a lot of back-to-back [testing] to do, it was a good Friday.

“It will be difficult, we saw with all the compounds, the deg is there.

“It’s important, but also we’ll put more rubber on the track and it will reduce a little bit. It will be difficult for sure.”
