Ferrari hit trouble with FIA over Imola concern

Ferrari has been flagged by the FIA at Imola following an alleged procedure breach during the first free practice session.

Charles Leclerc endured a difficult outing as he ended the session in 12th place amid complaints over his helmet lifting.

However, the FIA has taken note of the Italian squad's procedure in the pit lane when the Monegasque driver peeled into his pit box.

The governing body detailed the front tyres of Leclerc's car were “altered after a run, whilst the car was stationary in the garage and before going out for another run using the same set”.

As it was not in accordance with the regulations, FIA technical delegate Jo Bauer referred the incident to the stewards.

Leclerc's team-mate Lewis Hamilton enjoyed a more positive session, setting the fifth-fastest lap of the event.

Imola marks the first of two home races for Ferrari this year, with Monza also present on the calendar later in the campaign.

The FIA stewards formally summoned the Italian team just before the start of the second free practice session at Imola. It will report to the officials at 18:30 local time, half an hour after the end of FP2.
