The Ferrari F1 team has been handed a major piece of advice as it seeks to disrupt Kimi Antonelli's strong form at the British Grand Prix.
Antonelli overtook Lewis Hamilton midway through the sprint race to secure a comfortable victory in the 17-lap race at Silverstone before claiming pole position for the British Grand Prix by two-tenths of a second.
Charles Leclerc out-qualified Hamilton to clinch a front-row start, with the seven-time world champion one position adrift in third.
For Ferrari, victory in the British Grand Prix appears unlikely given Antonelli's supreme pace; however, with Leclerc and Hamilton starting second and third, it has the opportunity to at least apply pressure to the championship leader.
"Antonelli clearly has an edge on pace," racing driver and F1 pundit Naomi Schiff told Sky F1.
"He's almost two tenths clear, so it's going to be a tough battle to keep him behind if they do get ahead.
"However, I think the one thing they may be able to do is potentially split the strategy.
"If there's any game-playing they can do, or if something happens, like a safety car or whatever, they could then put pressure on him by forcing him into making a decision to pit that isn't optimal for him."
With Mercedes' George Russell starting directly behind both Ferraris in fourth, the Scuderia faces an immediate threat of its own.
According to 2009 world champion Jenson Button, it is crucial that Ferrari remains at least second and third off the line to open the door to potentially contesting the race win.
Adding on Schiff's claim, Button said: "That is very possible, and I think that's what they could really use to their advantage if they [remain] second and third behind Kimi."
