The British Grand Prix saw Ferrari return to the top step of the podium as Charles Leclerc bagged his first victory of the season.

It was a sweet moment for the Italian squad, which picked up its second victory in three rounds.

While there was cause for celebration at Ferrari, Mercedes and Red Bull endured a highly challenging round with various issues.

Below, you can read how media from around the world reacted to the ninth round of the F1 season, the British Grand Prix.

🇬🇧 The Telegraph - Russell results masks a worrying issue

George Russell brought home a second-place result at the British Grand Prix to close the gap to team-mate Kimi Antonelli in the standings.

However, The Telegraph writes that it's not a result for Russell to be proud of, as he only gained when Antonelli ran into issues with his car late on.

For Russell, it was a weekend of head-scratching and perplexity as he aims to get on top of the Mercedes challenger that has caused him issues throughout the campaign.

Otherwise, he may very soon find himself out of the running when it comes to the title fight.

🇪🇸 Marca - Tension rising at Red Bull

One of the big storylines coming out of the race weekend from Silverstone was the poor showing from Red Bull and Max Verstappen.

The Dutchman's event was full of struggles and was capped off with a late-race spin into the gravel.

Verstappen was unwilling to discuss his F1 future straight after the race, as it continues to be a hot topic amid his struggles on the track with Red Bull.

Marca highlighted that it appears tension is brewing at the team - where might it leave Verstappen at the end of the year?

🇮🇹 La Gazzetta dello Sport - Ferrari can dream of championship glory

Charles Leclerc enjoyed a strong run at the front of the field in the opening phase of the race but it was clear that he was going to come under pressure from Antonelli before the Mercedes driver had his issues.

Leclerc's victory marked Ferrari's second win of the year, having prevailed last month in Barcelona with Lewis Hamilton.

La Gazzetta dello Sport has pointed to the clear and consistent gains Ferrari has made in the pecking order of late and has backed the Italian squad to continue that trend as the season develops.

Mercedes has also had its share of reliability concerns, casting further doubt into the championship fight.

🇳🇱 De Telegraaf - Red Bull boss Mekies defends choice despite Verstappen complaints

Max Verstappen was seeking to make dramatic changes to his Red Bull car after qualifying in order to get a better balance for the race.

It would have required a pit lane start, a request that Red Bull denied.

After Verstappen's disastrous result, De Telegraaf writes that Red Bull team boss Laurent Mekies defended the decision to make no changes to the car.

Although he scored no points following his spin, Mekies held confidence that it would have bagged a higher result by keeping the less favourable set-up, rather than relegating itself to the pit lane.

🇦🇺 New Zealand Herald - Lawson the best value for money driver

As question marks swirl over Lawson's future amid the threat of Nikola Tsolov getting promoted to F1 next year, the New Zealand Herald has pleaded Lawson's case.

Following his disastrous start to the season last year at Red Bull, it has been a much sweeter affair this time around for Lawson.

The 24-year-old has scored points at all but two rounds this year and matched his season-best result on Sunday at Silverstone with a drive to sixth.

The New Zealand Herald pointed to Lawson's low-cost contract in comparison to the superstar names such as Verstappen and Hamilton and weighed it against the points he has scored - leaving it to judge him as a steal for the Red Bull family!
