Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur has confirmed that Lewis Hamilton will remain at the team in 2027.
Hamilton joined the Italian squad in 2025 as he brought the curtain down on a hugely successful stint with Mercedes.
However, his maiden season at Ferrari was filled with challenges as he failed to get up to speed in his new environment.
The seven-time champion has enjoyed a much more successful time of it in 2026 with frequent visits to the podium and even a breakthrough in Barcelona last month.
Vasseur has admitted that he did not consider how challenging it would be for Hamilton to adapt to new surroundings.
“Last year I had underestimated the scale of the transition from Mercedes to Ferrari,” Vasseur told Corriere della Sera.
“Everything was new to him, and Lewis isn’t one of those drivers who changes teams every two or three years, like [Carlos] Sainz.
“Now he knows the tools, the people and our approach. And with these good results, he’s entered a virtuous circle.”
Following his strong start to the year, speculation began to rise over what it may mean for his spot on the grid next year.
When asked if he could confirm that Hamilton will race at Ferrari in 2027, Vasseur simply replied: “Yes.”
Hamilton's step forward in performance has seen him outpace team-mate Charles Leclerc consistently this season.
Having had more input into the construction and development of this year's car, Vasseur denied that the SF-26 is tailored to Hamilton's specific qualities.
“Not at all; we don’t tailor F1 cars to one driver or another,” he said.
“At most, the cars might be developed based on the drivers’ feedback – their input is important – but we’re talking about marginal differences.”
