Fernando Alonso believes it is not "impossible" for Aston Martin to rectify its pre-season testing problems following numerous issues in Bahrain.
Aston Martin was able to complete just 394 in testing across Barcelona and the two Bahrain tests after initially being late, and then uncovering severe problems with its Honda power unit.
On the Thursday of the second Bahrain test, Alonso's race simulation was halted with a major failure which meant he did not return to the track in the remaining three-and-a-half hours of the day.
Investigations overnight uncovered major problems with the battery of the Honda power unit, with Lance Stroll limited to just six laps, none of which were timed, on the final day.
Heading to the Australia season-opener, Aston Martin is rooted to the bottom of the pecking order from testing, but veteran Alonso, who was speaking on Wednesday prior to his failure on Thursday, believes all is not lost.
"I think everything can be fixed for sure, in the short and in the medium term," Alonso told media, including RacingNews365.
"I don't think there is anything that is impossible to fix, but we need to wait and see.
"We will try to fix everything that we can before Australia, and after that, try to fix as many things as possible in the first couple of races before it is too late in the championship.
"But I am optimistic. For everything, I think there is a solution in place."
