Fernando Alonso has confirmed the birth of his first child with partner Melissa Jimenez.
Speaking to DAZN on Friday at the Japanese GP, Alonso confirmed the happy news, with the child being born about "a week ago."
Alonso delayed his arrival at the Japanese GP, skipping media day before taking his car back from Jak Crawford for FP2.
Addressing the happy moment, Alonso confirmed both mother and baby "are fine."
"Well, you never really imagine anything in particular, right?" he continued.
"Everything comes as it comes, and… well, with a bit of stress and worry that everything would go well. It went well.
"Fortunately, both the mother and the baby are fine, and yeah, very happy.
"A super happy, very special moment, and now, back to work."
The child is Alonso and Jimenez's first, but is Jimenez's fourth after three children from a previous relationship.
Alonso is the fourth father on the 2026 F1 grid, following Nico Hulkenberg, Sergio Perez, and Max Verstappen, with other recent F1 fathers including Kimi Raikkonen, Sebastian Vettel, Kevin Magnussen, Romain Grosjean, and Felipe Massa.
