Felipe Drugovich has revealed that his Andretti Formula E contract is currently a one-year deal, although understands that it includes an option for further seasons.
The 2022 Formula 2 champion was recently confirmed as Jake Dennis' team-mate for the upcoming Formula E campaign – the last of the Gen3 era.
It represents Drugovich's first full-time single-seater seat since his F2 title triumph, having sat on the sidelines as Aston Martin's F1 reserve driver the last three years.
He has been pushing for a return to single-seater racing and first spoke to Andretti in 2023, while he impressed the American outfit in his standalone appearance last season in Berlin.
Drugovich replaced WEC-tied Nyck de Vries in the Berlin double-header, scoring good points in the second race for Mahindra after finishing in seventh.
Returning to full-time racing is a significant moment for the Brazilian, who joins Formula E just a season before the introduction of Gen4.
Formula E's next era being just around the corner at the end of 2026 has seen several teams offer drivers multi-year contracts, to ensure it can prepare for Gen4 during the upcoming final campaign of Gen3.
The arrival of Gen4, a car which has been touted as being as quick if not quicker than a current F2 car at Monaco, is something Drugovich is watching closely.
However, for now, while he hopes to be on the grid for Gen4, a decision on that with Andretti will be made based on how his maiden year in the all-electric series goes.
Asked by RacingNews365 if his contract was for one season or a multi-year agreement, Drugovich responded: "Yeah, at the moment, we're looking forward to one year.
"I think there is an option for other years, but it's something that we are actually looking to see if it's going to be a good season or not. At the moment, all I can say is it's a one-year [deal].
"But Gen4 is actually very attractive, so hopefully I'll be there. It's pretty cool what the car is looking like, it's probably going to be quite fast around Monaco and the tracks that you can actually compare lap times with F2 and F1.
"I think it's going to get close to, or even faster than F2 so it's going to be pretty cool. So, hopefully in Season 13, when Gen4 [arrives] I will be there.
"And not just that, I think many more [years] to come. So hopefully I'll be there for many, many more [years]."
