The Monaco Grand Prix will be the first race in 2026 not to use the new overtaking aid.

The Monaco Grand Prix will not feature F1's new 'straight mode' overtaking aid, the first race not to do so in 2026.

For the new season, F1 cars now feature active aerodynamics where the front and rear wings open to shed drag, and were designed in part to compensate for new engines with their 50:50 power output split between the batteries and the internal combustion engine.

It was not a direct replacement for the old DRS, which allowed cars to open their rear-wing to reduce drag when following another car in races, with this being the 'overtake mode' boost.

For the upcoming race in Monte Carlo, the official track map on F1.com shows the circuit without any straight mode activation zones.

Previously, DRS was only used on the pit-straight in Monaco but straight mode will not follow suit in 2026. DRS was never used through the tunnel owing to safety concerns.

Overtake mode is still present for the race in the Principality, with the detection being before Rascasse corner, and the activation of it on the exit and just before the final corner, Anthony Noghes.
