F1 fans have surprisingly backed Yuki Tsunoda to succeed Sergio Perez at Red Bull, if the reigning constructors' champion decides to axe its struggling driver.
The Milton Keynes-based team is looking increasingly likely to lose its crown - to either McLaren or Ferrari - at the end of the current F1 season, something that will in large part due to the meagre form of Perez.
The 34-year-old has failed to score a podium finish since the fifth round of the season and eighth in the drivers' standings on 150 points - 204 behind team-mate and championship leader, Max Verstappen.
Despite being contracted to Red Bull for 2025, there remains the very real possibility he is given his marching orders come the end of the current season.
However, if that call is ultimately made, it is not yet completely clear who will replace him. Daniel Ricciardo appears to no longer be an option, with Liam Lawson having been jettisoned in to take over at RB.
The New Zealander is the new front-runner for the seat, his strong drive to P9 at the United States Grand Prix and upon return to racing in F1 will have done much to bolster his chances.
However, F1 fans believe his team-mate, Yuki Tsunoda, will get the nod - a majority of votes cast in a recent poll by RacingNews365 falling the way of the 24-year-old.
Strikingly, one in five of respondents feel that Perez's would-be replacement will be neither current RB driver.
