The Formula 1 grid has a major strategic decision to make ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix, with Pirelli outlining that both one-stop and two-stop strategies are realistic possibilities.

Starting on the yellow-walled medium compound is the most likely approach for the Hungarian Grand Prix, before the field is expected to split in strategy.

Those opting for a one-stop have an estimated pit window between laps 26 and 32 to switch to a set of hard tyres, while those choosing a two-stop strategy will want to pit much earlier, between laps 16 and 22.

If a two-stop strategy is chosen, then a second stop for another set of medium tyres between laps 45 and 51 is highly likely.

Of course, this does not factor in potential safety cars, virtual safety cars or red flags, all of which could create a further strategic headache.

For those wanting to attack in the opening laps, starting on the red-walled soft tyres is also an option as part of a two-stop strategy, with an initial pit window between laps 13 and 19.

Lewis Hamilton in fifth could be a driver who opts for a gamble, while Max Verstappen might do the same from fourth.
