1996 F1 champion Damon Hill has reacted to a disapproving Max Verstappen's radio call directed towards Alex Albon during the Miami Grand Prix.

Verstappen was shuffled into the midfield pack on the opening lap of the race after spinning at the second corner while going side-by-side with Charles Leclerc.

As he fought his way back through, he was involved in a number of battles - including one against former team-mate Alex Albon.

Verstappen took issue with Albon as he felt he was pushed wide towards the bollard of the pit entry, declaring over team radio: “Mate, he just squeezed me onto the bollard! What the fuck! That’s not allowed.”

The comment did not leave Hill impressed, stating Verstappen has employed the same tactic enough in the past.

“Hearing him complaining about Alex Albon regaining the place and squeezing Max Verstappen...” Hill told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“I have to say, Max can’t really complain about other people doing things like that to him. He does it enough to everyone else.”

Verstappen was in the wars throughout the weekend, as one day prior to his run-in with Albon, he battled with Lewis Hamilton.

As Verstappen attacked his former title rival into Turn 11, both drivers ran wide, forcing the Dutchman to hand the position back.

Reflecting on the battle, Hill said: “You’d have to say it was a good pass attempt by Max.

“I mean, he actually got down inside, and it was almost as if everyone else was going too slowly.

“They were sort of concertinaing up and almost as if Lewis had kind of backed out of it. And Max just went for the gap.

“And famously, in his own inimitable style, goes very deep and uses all the road.”
