Fernando Alonso lit up the timing screens by setting the fastest lap of Friday practice, fuelling suspicions about the pace of the Aston Martin AMR23.
The two-time champion pipped both Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez in conditions similar to what would be expected from the Bahrain GP qualifying. Charles Leclerc took P3 for Ferrari, ahead of Haas' Nico Hulkenberg and the second Aston Martin of Lance Stroll.
