Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc converted pole position into a comfortable victory in Sunday's Australian Grand Prix.

Leclerc led the 58-lap race throughout and any threat from behind effectively disappeared when Red Bull rival Max Verstappen ground to a halt with smoke coming from the rear of his car at the two-thirds mark.

Sergio Perez was left to pick up the pieces for Red Bull in second, while Mercedes secured another surprise podium with George Russell leading home teammate Lewis Hamilton.

Carlos Sainz (a spin) and Sebastian Vettel (contact with the barriers) were the two other retirements from the race.
