The Singapore Grand Prix has always been F1’s ultimate endurance test, but the 2025 edition of the race looks set to push drivers beyond their breaking point with a cocktail of extreme weather that threatens to make the season’s most punishing challenge even more daunting.

Friday’s opening practice sessions at the Marina Bay Street Circuit will serve up a taste of what is to come, with temperatures hitting 32°C and humidity levels soaring to a suffocating 80 percent.

The heat index will make it feel closer to 37°C, creating oven-like conditions inside the cockpits as drivers tackle the demanding street circuit.

The second practice session will offer little respite. Despite a drop to 28°C, the oppressive humidity is set to remain, with thunderstorms looming on the horizon.

Saturday is forecast to be dry whilst cars are on track, but there is a good chance of rain in the morning and early afternoon.

Temperatures will feel like 39°C during the third and final practice session, but whilst the chance of rain remains low for qualifying, the temperature will remain high.

Race day offers a different kind of pain. Precipitation earlier on Sunday should ease, but drivers face a brutal two-hour slog in 28°C heat that will feel like 37°C.

Humidity is due to be at 74 percent, and with minimal airflow through the cockpit on the twisty street circuit, physical fitness becomes as crucial as raw pace.

Marina Bay has always been F1’s great leveller. The narrow, unforgiving layout demands precision, while the oppressive conditions sap concentration and physical strength. Drivers regularly lose several kilograms during the race, with ice baths and intensive cooling strategies becoming essential survival tools.

This weekend’s weather forecasts suggest drivers will experience the full spectrum of Singapore’s notorious climate, from sweltering heat to tropical deluges.
