Haas F1 driver Esteban Ocon has issued criticism over the new F1 cars, stating it is difficult to call it “fair” racing.
The challengers this year have been built under a fresh set of regulations, with changes made to both the aerodynamics and power units.
The latter element has significantly altered how the drivers approach racing due to the importance of energy harvesting and deployment.
During the opening two rounds of the year, it has been common to see one driver make an overtake before being repassed several corners later due to a lack of energy.
But Ocon has declared he is not a fan.
“It’s not go karts,” Ocon told media including RacingNews365. “We want a lot more overtakes, but it's just chaos.
“You can't really plan for any overtaking. If you do, you are going to get re-overtaken.
“You can't really seal the position. It's difficult to call it a fair battle, especially between manufacturers.
“Some have more deployment than others. Some are quicker in corners than others.
“It creates big, big differences. It is not straightforward to overtake. It's more back and forth.”
Ocon has endured a challenging opening two rounds to the year, falling outside of the top 10 on both occasions.
His team-mate Oliver Bearman, however, has scored points in both grands prix.
