Aston Martin caused a major shock in qualifying for the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia.
In what has been a torrid campaign for the team so far this season, only once in the previous 15 race weekends had one of its cars made the second session of qualifying for a grand prix.
That was in Hungary, when veteran Fernando Alonso drove the team's AMR26 after the team unveiled a major upgrade package.
Around the Sepang International Circuit, however, both Alonso and team-mate Lance Stroll made it into Q2.
The duo finished 14th and 15th quickest, with Alonso having the edge over the Canadian by just eight thousandths of a second with a lap of one minute 37.721s.
They were both comfortably clear of the drop zone, finishing a quarter of a second clear of Nico Hulkenberg in his Audi.
In Q2, Alonso missed out on a place in the top 10 by four-tenths of a second and will start 12th, albeit his highest grid slot of the year, with Stroll 14th.
