Corvette driver Paul Milner has sprung to the defence of Augusto Farfus following their on-track spat at the 24 Hours of Daytona.
Milner was leading the GTD Pro class when he came up to lap the #48 BMW, which was being driven by Farfus.
A second BMW car was running in second place and contact was made when Milner attempted to move ahead of the lapped car, resulting in the American showing his rival the middle finger.
He labelled the situation as “embarrassing” in the aftermath, falling to seventh in class.
The day after the race, Milner took to social media to assert he holds no personal grudge to Farfus as he outlined the Brazilian was likely following team orders to help the other BMW in second place.
“I want to say something for Augusto since it's nearly impossible to do so himself right now,” Milner said.
“I've raced with and against Augusto for 15 years. He has always been fair with me on track.
“I'm certain that was him following orders.”
The GTD Pro class was won by Ford Multimatic Motorsports.
