Oliver Bearman caused a red flag in the third practice session in Monaco following a crash in the final 15 minutes of the session.
Bearman's best lap time had him in 13th place but as he attempted to improve upon his effort in preparation for qualifying, his outing took a disappointing twist.
Rounding Turn 3, Bearman lost control of his Haas car and hit the barrier rear-first.
It caused significant damage to the back of the car, putting the Haas squad in a race against time to get his car ready for qualifying.
“Sorry guys, it's the fucking bottoming,” Bearman said over team radio. “I totally lost it on the bump, I'm so sorry.”
On Friday, Red Bull's Isack Hadjar suffered a crash at Turn 16, marking the only other time a car has suffered terminal damage so far this weekend against the wall.
