Charles Leclerc says he suffered from initial vision problems in the immediate aftermath of his huge Italian Grand Prix accident - and that he will undergo further precautionary checks ahead of the Spanish GP next week.
On Lap 3 at Monza, Leclerc was battling with the McLaren of Oscar Piastri around the Parabolica when he lost control and speared into the barriers.
The Monegasque was able to climb unaided from the car and was quickly attended to trackside by the FIA doctors, and undertook a mandatory trip to the medical centre after triggering the G-sensors onboard the car.
He was given a clean bill of health and quickly released to carry out his media duties, where he revealed initial vision problems after the impact.
"It was just my vision a little bit at first; the right eye was not showing me great vision," Leclerc told media, including RacingNews365.
"But now it's all good. That's the thing I was most worried of getting out of the car; then, after that, everything was a bit of pain here and there, which is normal after a crash like this. So nothing more.
"I think from Lap 1 to Lap 2, I had a bit of a difference in power delivery. We'll look into it, but I don't want to comment too much before checking the data and confirm it.”
It marked a hugely disappointing outcome for Ferrari at its home event, having entered the round hoping to challenge at the front of the field.
While frustrated, Leclerc voiced hope that he will have better fortunes next time out in Madrid, should he be cleared to race.
"This is obviously the biggest race of the year for the team, and a lot of fans here cheering for you. Yeah, it's it's very frustrating, but it's the way it's the way it is now.
"I cannot change the results. I'll have to look forward and hopefully bounce back in Madrid.
"I think I'll have quite a few additional checks that we still have to do on my side, probably tonight and tomorrow to make sure that I'll be fully fine for Madrid.
"It should be the case, but yeah, better be safe than sorry."
