Charles Leclerc has offered an explanation as to how he made such an impressive improvement in qualifying for the British Grand Prix, revealing that he rediscovered a "lost" feeling.
The Monegasque has endured several difficult rounds of late and has been consistently slower than Lewis Hamilton.
However, Leclerc qualified ahead of the seven-time world champion at Silverstone and secured a surprise front-row start alongside polesitter Kimi Antonelli.
Leclerc made a significant improvement to his lap time on his final qualifying lap and looked more like his usual self behind the wheel.
The lap appeared to come easily to Leclerc, who has been working tirelessly with Ferrari to become comfortable again with the SF-26 after making so many recent changes.
Finally, he felt good again behind the wheel but is wary that he must ensure the feeling does not leave him again.
Asked how he made such an impressive improvement, Leclerc explained: "Oh, just by pushing a bit more everywhere.
"But honestly, I mean, result aside, I'm actually quite happy with exactly what you said, because that normally means that I know where the limit of the car is.
"And then for the second run in Q3, it's always been my strength in the past, where I get to Q3 and I find something extra for the second run in Q3. And I had a bit lost that feeling recently. I've been working very hard to try and get back that feeling.
"It feels like this feeling was back, but where I'm focused now is to keep that feeling, because I know how much it relies on fine-tuning and small details. But I feel like we've done a step forward."
