Charles Leclerc has avoided a penalty following an investigation from the F1 stewards after Thursday practice in Las Vegas.
Leclerc ended the opening session of the weekend on top of the timesheet before placing third at the end of FP2.
However, the curtains were drawn early for the Monegasqué as he pulled into an escape road amid a late red flag restart with an apparent problem with the car.
Leclerc was then flagged for an alleged breach of Article 26.5 of the sporting regulations, which on this occasion relates to not replacing the steering wheel and turning off the ERS while vacating the car.
In a statement from the stewards, they explained: “The driver explained that prior to stepping out of the car, he tried to put it in neutral but he could not do so.
“He then switched off the car and left the car.
“The marshals tried to put the car in neutral but could not.
“The driver then tried to assist the marshals by switching the car back on to attempt to put it in neutral however the marshals, in the belief the car was unsafe, asked him not to.
“Finally he persuaded the marshals that the car was safe, and turned off the power.
