Charles Leclerc has revealed what he said to Isack Hadjar in a brief post-qualifying conversation in Canada.
Leclerc abandoned his final effort in Q3 after enduring a snap of oversteer out of Turn 7.
He vented frustration at Hadjar over team radio, blaming the dirty air from the Racing Bulls car for the loss of control after setting a purple first sector.
It has proven to be a messy weekend thus far for Leclerc, who missed almost all of Friday practice following a crash during FP1.
Reflecting on his disappointing qualifying result, Leclerc told media including RacingNews365: “It was [dirty air from Hadjar]. I mean, we are going to look back at the data.
“On a track like this with the walls, it's like Monaco, it's like some other tracks where it's always trickier with the dirty air.”
Leclerc then briefly halted his conversation with journalists to open a brief discussion with Hadjar, who was also present in the media pen.
The Ferrari driver explained he wanted to warn Hadjar that his message on the team radio was purely out of momentary anger.
"Obviously emotions are running high when you are in the car,” he said after finishing his chat with Hadjar.
“I don't think he's done anything wrong, but we know how it is. Sometimes depending on where you are catching a car, then this can have a big influence on the lap.
"It had a huge influence on me. I just wanted to obviously warn him what I said in the car, that I was quite angry, but there's nothing wrong with what Isack has done.”
