Martin Brundle believes it's vital for Mercedes to strike back at the British Grand Prix after a run of five consecutive races without a pole position or win which has not happened since 2013. Lewis Hamilton has not been victorious since the Spanish GP at the beginning of May and trails Max Verstappen by 32 points in the Drivers' Championship. "Red Bull and Max Verstappen are the favourites for the title," Brundle told Sky Sports. "Mercedes have to come back at them hard and fast and Silverstone would be their best chance." Hamilton, who s igned a new deal to stay with Mercedes until the end of 2023 , has won the British GP seven times. Brundle thinks it's crucial for the momentum of the title race to win an eighth race at Silverstone. "I think it's critical [to win the British GP]," said Brundle. "Now we're already nine races into the season. Max could easily have won the last five, he's won four of the five and Red Bull won the other one anyway because obviously he had puncture in Baku. He's on a roll. "He dominated the second Austria and won the first Austria at a canter, Paul Ricard, he had covered too."
