Isack Hadjar offers surprise response to crucial Red Bull contract detail

Isack Hadjar has claimed he does not know the length of his new Red Bull contract, musing that he does not care about that detail, either.

The Frenchman has re-upped with the Milton Keynes-based squad for the 2027 F1 season, with the news announced on media day for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, which also coincides with his return to the cockpit of the RB22 after three rounds out of action due to the wrist injury he sustained over the summer break.

Having performed well alongside Max Verstappen across the first half of the campaign, his extension was anticipated, even if the confirmation has come earlier than is usual for Red Bull.

When addressing the timing of the decision, Hadjar shared a glimpse of his inner confidence that a deal would be struck sooner rather than later.

"It's good. It's nice, but it's natural," he told media, including RacingNews365.

"I'm not here to be hopeful. I'm here to show what I [can] do on track, and naturally the rest comes. So it's normal in a way."

Hadjar on Red Bull contract length: 'I don't care'

Having secured 71 points across the 11 rounds he has contested so far this year, including the recently confirmed podium at Monaco, the 21-year-old looks to have made the second Red Bull seat his own after the instability of 2025.

However, he took a deliberate step back from discussions with the team and was not involved in negotiations, to the extent that he says he does not know the finer points of the new contract.

"I didn't even talk about it; I let my people do the talking for me," the two-time podium finisher added. "I do it on the track, and that's that's about it. It was very easy."

When pressed on how long the new deal is for, Hadjar provided an unexpected reply: "I actually don't know. I don't care."
