Aston Martin issue response to FIA president comments on Fernando Alonso future

Aston Martin has stated that FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem's comments on Fernando Alonso's future were blown out of proportion in Madrid.

Speaking earlier this month, Ben Sulayem insisted he would do all he can to keep Alonso on the grid next year amid doubts over the Spaniard's future.

Alonso has not yet declared if he will remain with Aston Martin in 2027 as he explores other options.

While Aston Martin has endured a challenging and uncompetitive season thus far, the two-time champion insisted that the enjoyment of the regulation set, rather than the pace of the car, will determine if he sticks around. 

When asked if he feels Aston Martin-Honda need more help to improve, Krack told media including RacingNews365: “There is a regulation framework that, when you enter the championship, this is basically the conditions that you participate [with].

“We trust this framework and these regulations, and there's not much more to add. 

“Maybe more made out of it than there was behind it.”

Aston Martin not expecting 'massive deviation' from rule tweaks

Many of the F1 drivers voiced their complaints at the start of the year over the new regulations and the influence of the battery.

Adjustments have since been made for the 2027 and 2028 campaigns to give more influence to the internal combustion engines.

Despite the changes, Krack is still expecting to see some fine-tuning in the years ahead.

“I can't really comment much more than that because I think the regulations or the roadmap for the regulations 2027 and 2028 have been laid out,” he said.

“Now probably there's always going to be a little bit of fine-tuning, as we have seen also this year. 

“But the big roadblocks have been fixed. So I do not expect a massive deviation from these.”
