Aston Martin ambassador Pedro de la Rosa has detailed how Adrian Newey responded to the vibration concerns that have plagued the squad early in the year.
The Silverstone-based squad has endured a challenging start to the campaign, with its car proving to be both uncompetitive and unreliable.
The Honda power unit has been delivering significant vibrations to the car and creating an uncomfortable scenario for its drivers.
Fernando Alonso was forced to retire in China due to the severity of the vibrations, but managed to finish the race in Japan - marking a breakthrough result for the team.
De la Rosa highlighted that Newey, who designed the car and currently holds the role of team principal, was very open with the situation.
“Adrian was really, really transparent,” de la Rosa told Sky F1.
“In Australia, he explained the situation very well. We have vibrations that make it very uncomfortable for the drivers.
“We're working very hard with Honda. We tried some countermeasures here [in Japan] to mitigate the vibrations.
“So everything is going in the right direction. But obviously we want to accelerate the process.”
While the engine has had its issues, so too has the chassis - but de la Rosa asserted Aston Martin is not sitting still when it comes to seeking improvements.
“On the chassis side, we have new parts on the front wing, front end plate, on the leading edge of the floor,” he said.
“So there are a lot of things that are coming through just to be more competitive. You're never competitive enough in F1.
“Where we are at the moment, we just need to make big steps, but we're working on that.
“We just have to make sure that every time we run, we make the car faster.
“Is it the power unit? Is it the aerodynamics? Is the suspension? We don't care. Every area has to be better.”
