Formula E has unveiled a record-breaking 18-round calendar for its 2026 season, featuring a move to the home of Formula 1's Miami Grand Prix – the Miami International Autodrome.

The all-electric series has managed to switch the Homestead-Miami Speedway for F1's Miami home on a multi-year deal, a move FE had been pushing heavily for after it hosted its recent celebrity event.

Next season's calendar features 12 venues; however, two are yet to be confirmed and will not be until the next meeting of the FIA's World Motor Sport Council (WMSC).

RacingNews365 understands that the first 'TBC' is a return to Sanya in China, whilst the second is the continuation of racing in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta. FE co-founder Alberto Longo is confident both will take place.

The WMSC met on Tuesday in Macau, with approving calendars having been on the agenda. For a second consecutive season, São Paulo will kickstart the campaign, which has kept a December start date on the same weekend as F1's season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

However, the season will conclude in August next year, for what will likely be London's final time hosting FE before the introduction of Gen4 at the end of 2026.

Berlin has been moved to an early May date and is one of six venues hosting a double-header – Jeddah, Monaco, Shanghai, Tokyo and London are the others.

For the first time since 2021, FE will return to race in Spain, at the Jarama Circuit which hosted the current campaign's pre-season test in the wake of the devastating floods in Valencia.

In a positive move for the series, only four events clash with F1. São Paulo clashes with Abu Dhabi, Berlin with F1's trip to Miami, Shanghai and the British Grand Prix clash and also Tokyo with the Hungarian Grand Prix.

The calendar does feature two five-week breaks between the opening two races in São Paulo and Mexico City, as well as the races in Jeddah and Madrid. One six-week gap does exist, between the races in Jarama and Berlin.

Formula E statements

Despite FE's biggest calendar yet, the series has continued to push its sustainability message, with races having been grouped by continent for much of the campaign to reduce freight mileage and CO2 emissions.

The calendar offers a mix of old-school venues, FE favourites and permanent circuits.

"This calendar is our most competitive yet, blending exciting new and existing venues with legendary circuits that define Formula E," said FE's CEO, Jeff Dodds.

"With greater attention on calendar stability, we’re becoming easier to find, engage with and attend, unlocking greater fan loyalty and love.

"Our debut in Madrid and increase in total races demonstrates our mission and intent to continually grow the series in key markets, while racing at Miami’s International Autodrome takes our US presence to another level at a world-class facility.

"As we continue to see year-on-year growth of our global fanbase and TV audiences, this calendar is certain to deliver even more exciting racing from our world-class drivers and teams for our fans to get behind."

The challenge for FE is keeping its CO2 emissions low whilst trying to increase the length of its calendar, which it wants to further increase in the coming seasons.

Announcing a race in Madrid next year is a proud moment for FE co-founder Alberto Longo, with it being a home race for him.

"We’re incredibly proud of the global footprint we’ve built for our 12th season, covering 2025-26," said Longo.

"With at least two fantastic new circuits joining the impressive roster, including what will be a home race for myself in Madrid that has long been a goal of mine, we’re enhancing the diversity of what fans can expect while staying true to our DNA with a blend of city street and built circuit venues.

"It is what makes our racing so exciting and compelling to watch. We’ve carefully curated each leg to minimise our freight, improve sustainability and give fans across the world even more opportunity to tune in and watch no matter the time zone, thanks to our fantastic roster of broadcast partners."
