Formula E is back this weekend for its first race of 2026, the second round of the season – the Mexico City E-Prix.
This weekend's trip to the iconic Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez comes four weeks after the season-opener in São Paulo, which saw Andretti's Jake Dennis claim pole, victory, and the early championship lead.
However, the race was overshadowed by a terrifying airborne crash for Cupra Kiro rookie Pepe Martí, which resulted in a late red flag and a disrupted finish to the event.
Now, all eyes are on Mexico City, which is set to host the all-electric series for the 10th time. It is one of the longest-standing races on the calendar, as well as one of the fastest.
Traditionally, it is also one of the most-attended races of the season, with the Foro Sol stadium often full.
For 2026, changes have been made to the circuit, with the chicane after Turn 8 removed, creating a straight into Turn 9, which marks the entry to the Foro Sol stadium section (see track map at the bottom of the article).
As mentioned, Dennis enters as the initial championship leader, ahead of reigning world champion Oliver Rowland, who won in Mexico last season, and Citroën's Nick Cassidy.
Despite Rowland's victory 12 months ago, the factory Porsche outfit proved the strongest when it came to pure pace.
First practice gets underway on Friday afternoon at 16:00 local time (Central Standard Time), before second practice starts early on Saturday morning at 07:30 (CST).
Qualifying is scheduled to start at 09:40 (CST), with the lights going out for the second time this season at 14:00 (CST).
