On a weekend,  F1 teams are set to get to grips with the new flexi-wing rules, they are also going to be met with another challenge: the weather.

In recent years, the Spanish Grand Prix at Barcelona has been shuffled back into a June slot from its traditional early May weekend, meaning summer in Europe is ever-slightly closer.

For the coming weekend, temperatures are expected to be in the mid-to-high 20 degrees Celsius region, with some scattered clouds.

Winds are expected to come in from the south, which roughly corresponds to a tail-wind into Turn 1, with a head-wind more beneficial for overtaking opportunities as it boosts the slipstream.

The high track temperatures will make tyre cooling an important factor, with degradation already high in Barcelona due to the fast, twisty nature of the circuit, placing stress on the tyres.

As a result of the historic high stress levels placed on the tyres, Pirelli has opted for the C1, C2, and C3 tyres, serving as the hard, medium, and soft, respectively.
