2025 F1 São Paulo Grand Prix - Driver Ratings

It's time for the driver ratings from Round 21 of 24 in the 2025 F1 season, the São Paulo Grand Prix.

Some unexpected names mesmerised at the São Paulo Grand Prix, whilst multiple drivers suffered disaster at Interlagos.

The one 10/10 performance was the second such display in a row from that driver — no prizes for guessing who.

Check out the RacingNews365 São Paulo Grand Prix driver ratings below. Let us know what you think in the comments section!

The top five

Lando Norris - 10

Consecutive 10/10 performances from the McLaren driver at a crucial period of the campaign. He argued that the past couple of rounds have not been a "turning point", but to go from 14 points behind his team-mate to 24 ahead in that span is surely just that. Impeccable weekend, barely put a foot wrong. SQ2 was the only session he did not top.

Kimi Antonelli - 9.5

He visited the grave of his hero, Ayrton Senna, twice and Wednesday, and he did his best to emulate the late, great Brazilian in São Paulo. The young Italian was exceptional. Undeniably quick over one lap — through two second places in the qualifying sessions — he also showcased his ability to mount pressure on Norris and fend off Max Verstappen across the two races. Only loses half a mark for admittedly having a part to play in Oscar Piastri's 10-second time penalty.

Pierre Gasly - 8.5

Two points might not look like a lot, but it is a 10 per cent increase on his season's tally, with eighth and tenth in the sprint and grand prix, respectively. He looked quick all weekend, and those results are just reward. Franco Colapinto has looked much closer to him of late, but Gasly made a statement on the weekend that his team-mate was signed up for 2026.

Oliver Bearman - 8

Another superb performance from the Haas driver. He always had the pace, but the mistakes were hurting him. He appears to have rid himself of those of late, and he could not have done much more to ease to sixth place in the grand prix. A job very well done, particularly on a weekend when Esteban Ocon was less than he can be. He now has 10 more points than his experienced team-mate.

Liam Lawson - 8

Displays like the one the New Zealander put together in the grand prix will make it hard for Red Bull to drop him at the end of the season. Was not as quick as Isack Hadjar all weekend, but did brilliantly to make the difficult one-stop strategy work to his advantage. Also did well to hold off the 21-year-old in the closing stages.

The bottom five

Franco Colapinto - 4.5

A big weekend for the Argentine star at his de facto home race, where his extension for the 2026 F1 season was also confirmed. Unfortunately, he was unable to match Gasly in the sister Alpine on the rare occasion the car was capable of points. Holding his crash in the sprint against him would be incredibly harsh, given that more experienced drivers also fell victim to the difficult conditions.

Esteban Ocon - 4

Another underwhelming weekend for the one-time grand prix winner. Just looked off the pace, especially of his team-mate throughout. Will need to dig deeper as Bearman continues to improve.

Yuki Tsunoda - 3.5

Perhaps unlucky to make contact with Lance Stroll, given he was taking avoiding action from Colapinto ahead, but it was ultimately a penalty. The Red Bull mistake whilst serving that punishment was completely out of his control. That said, he was off the required pace all weekend, to the extent that he was even used as a test dummy for Verstappen at points. Needs to do more to save his seat — be it at Red Bull or Racing Bulls.

Gabriel Bortoleto - 3

You have to feel for the home hero, who endured one of the most difficult — and disappointing — weekends of his rookie season at Interlagos. Thank Goodness he was alright following his terrifying crash in the sprint, but two incidents over a weekend is not great. Not to mention, he was a shade slower than Nico Hulkenberg across the round.

Lewis Hamilton - 3

Say what you will about the "nightmare" the Ferrari driver claims he has been "living in for a while", Hamilton was plainly not up to standard in São Paulo. Two eliminations in the middle sections of the qualifying sessions underlined his lack of pace, and his Sunday afternoon was miserable. Unfortunate to get damage early on; running into the back of Colapinto was his fault.
