Lando Norris topped the first practice session for the Bahrain Grand Prix, beating Pierre Gasly by just under two-and-a-half tenths of a second.
Lewis Hamilton and Alex Albon went third and fourth quickest, respectively, at the Bahrain International Circuit in session that saw a mixed up order.
Haas driver Esteban Ocon rounded out the top five in an hour that saw six rookies participate, the quickest of which was Luke Browning in Carlos Sainz's Williams in P13.
Dino Beganovic went P14 for Ferrari and Felipe Drugovich P16 for Aston Martin. Ryo Hirakawa was P17 in the Haas, ahead of Fred Vesti and Ayumu Iwasa in the Mercedes and Red Bull, respectively.
Kimi Antonelli had an issue early into the hour and did not re-emerge. It is believed to be a water pressure issue with his W16.
Browning and Albon came close to making contact, for which they will see the officials. And Yuki Tsunoda was called to the stewards for overtaking the latter in the pit lane.
