Late stewards' calls have resulted in a remarkable reshuffle of the F2 feature race results, with the driver who took the chequered flag in third ultimately being handed the victory.

The verdicts mean McLaren F1 junior Alex Dunne has been stripped of his position at the top of the F2 standings, after losing the feature race victory at a wet Spa Francorchamps.

From pole position, Dunne was in control throughout after a rolling start behind the safety car, hours after the F3 feature race had been cancelled due to heavy rain.

Dunne made his mandatory pit stop on lap 12 of a planned 23, but the race ended behind the safety car after Sebastian Montoya spun, climbing Eau Rouge and Raidillon, stalling as he stopped.

Just as the race was preparing for a final sprint to the flag, Oliver Goethe suffered an engine failure, stopping on the Kemmel Straight, with the safety car staying out before the red flags were thrown.

The 25 points Dunne received for victory moved him to 137 points, with former championship leader Richard Verschoor suffering a DNF and a non-score, to leave him on 122.

Jak Crawford also failed to score, leaving him on 116, whilst Leonardo Fornaroli moved into third place on 121.

However, post-race, Dunne received a 10-second time penalty for a technical breach, dropping him to P10, and collecting just one point.

Red Bull junior Arvid Lindblad was then declared the winner. However, he was later disqualified for a technical infringement, handing the win to Roman Stanek.

It means Fornaroli now leads the standings on 125 points, with Verschoor on 122, Crawford 116, Dunne 114, and Luke Browning 110. Lindblad had moved to 109 but drops back to 84.
