Max Verstappen has taken pole position for his home grand prix, besting the McLaren of Lando Norris to pole position.
Logan Sargeant made his first-ever appearance in Q3, but crashed minutes into the session while pushing on a drying track to cause a red flag.
A second red flag was deployed shortly after the restart when Charles Leclerc slid into the wall, sustaining heavy damage to the left side of the car.
George Russell pipped Alexander Albon to third place in the final moments of the session, with the latter starring for Williams.
Fernando Alonso was fifth for Aston Martin ahead of compatriot Carlos Sainz.
Sergio Perez once again had no answer for teammate Verstappen and was over 1.3 seconds down at the chequered flag in eighth, ahead of Oscar Piastri.
The duo of Leclerc and Sargeant were ninth and 10th respectively.
