Red Bull driver Sergio Perez took his maiden F1 pole position in dramatic fashion by eclipsing the Ferrari drivers during qualifying for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz had been squabbling over top spot at the Jeddah Cornice Circuit until Perez delivered a supreme final effort to grab pole, with the Ferrari pair having to settle for second and third.
Max Verstappen was only fourth in the other Red Bull, with Alpine's Esteban Ocon and Mercedes' George Russell completing the top six – the latter's teammate, Lewis Hamilton, suffering a dramatic Q1 elimination.
Qualifying was delayed in the Q2 phase after a heavy crash for Mick Schumacher, who has been taken to hospital for checks.
