Formula 1 is planning to stage a 23-round season in 2022, with Miami due to arrive on the calendar, and both Australia and China set to return, RacingNews365.com understands.
According to multiple sources, the 2022 F1 campaign will again get underway in Bahrain on 20 March, followed one week later by Saudi Arabia, as F1 opts for a double-header to kick off the action.
Australia and China will feature on 10 April and 24 April respectively, with both countries looking to host their first races since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Miami slots into the calendar on 8 May, followed by the next back-to-back sequence in Spain (22 May) and Monaco (29 May). In a change to the usual format, Monaco is expected to move to a Friday/Saturday/Sunday weekend, having traditionally held practice on Thursday.
Despite the almost 9,000km between them, Azerbaijan (12 June) and Canada (19 June) have also been twinned.
F1's first triple-header of the season is planned for July. Great Britain holds the 3 July slot, followed by Austria on 10 July, though these dates may be swapped. Either Paul Ricard or Imola will host the final leg on 17 July.
Hungary (31 July) and Belgium (28 August) take up their usual spots on either side of the summer break. As per 2021, Spa-Francorchamps will be quickly followed by trips to the Netherlands (4 September) and Italy (11 September) as part of a triple-header.
Yet another triple-header follows; Russia is pencilled in for 25 September, with either Singapore or Turkey, and then Japan, on the first two weekends of October.
In the final stages of the season, the United States (Austin) and Mexico will run across the final two weekends of October, with Brazil (13 November) and Abu Dhabi (20 November) bringing the championship to a close.
Final pre-season testing dates and venues have yet to be confirmed with the teams.
