Zhou Guanyu will start the Singapore Grand Prix from the pit-lane after Alfa Romeo made set-up changes under parc ferme conditions as well as changing power unit components. The Chinese driver was set to start 19th and last following Lance Stroll's withdrawal, but Alfa Romeo has taken the decision to fit his car with new power unit elements and breach parc ferme regulations in changing the set-up. Zhou's car has been fitted with a new Internal Combustion Engine, Turbo-charger, MGU-H and Control Electronics, all of which takes him over the season allocation for those individual components. A new exhaust has also been fitted, but this is within his allotted number of eight. Teams are not allowed to make set-up changes after the start of qualifying, with the penalty for breaching this being a pit-lane start for the driver. It means that 18 cars will be on the grid itself with Zhou in the pit-lane and Stroll not taking part following his huge qualifying accident.
