Wolff: Only one factor that can stop Red Bull win streak

Red Bull inches closer to the possibility of an unbeaten record in a Formula 1 season.

Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff has made a claim about Red Bull's chances of winning every race in the 2023 Formula 1 season. Red Bull is currently on an unbeaten win of 15 races following Max Verstappen's record-breaking victory at the Italian Grand Prix with his 10th straight. The team itself has won every single one of the 14 races in 2023 and also picked up victory in the 2022 finale in Abu Dhabi. No team in the history of F1 has ever claimed 100% of victories in a season, with it being more difficult now due to the number of races on the calendar, with Wolff providing the one factor that he believes could stop Red Bull from completing the sweep.

Wolff: 100% win tally a 'good record'

"I think they need to screw it up themselves in order not to win every race this season," Wolff told media, including RacingNews365. The team with the highest win record in a season currently is McLaren, who won 94% of the races in 1988, with the only race of the 16 it did not win being the Italian GP where Ferrari claimed a one-two weeks after the death of Enzo Ferrari. Mercedes came close to achieving a historic win streak in the 2016 season when they had Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg in the team, claiming 19 of the 21 wins on offer with the W07. "That by the way, is a record I would think is a good one [to have]," said Wolff. "We didn't make it because we pushed each other out in Barcelona and then we had an engine failure in Malaysia in 2016 [for Hamilton while he was leading]."
