PIF and Formula E expand Driving Force programme with new online platform

PIF and Formula E have announced the expansion of the Driving Force education programme, launching a new online platform designed to give young people around the world greater access to STEM and sustainability learning through the lens of electric motorsport.

Driving Force was first introduced in April 2025 in Miami during the 2024/25 Formula E season, offering education through three channels: live school workshops, teacher lesson plans, and on-demand online learning. 

Since then, the programme has reached 111,200 young people through teacher-led content and workshops across the United States, Saudi Arabia and the United Kingdom.

The expanded platform provides a unified digital destination for students, parents and educators, each with tailored experiences. 

Students can access interactive challenges, quizzes, games and rewards, while parents receive content to help support their children's interest in STEM careers. 

Educators, meanwhile, gain access to ready-to-use lesson plans and classroom resources covering STEM and sustainability topics.

GEN4 car at the heart of the launch content

Launch content is centred around the recently unveiled Gen4 car, which is set to make its competitive debut in the upcoming Formula E campaign. 

The Gen4 serves as a focal point for users to explore the technology and sustainability principles underpinning the series, as well as the career pathways that support those fields.

The initiative comes against a backdrop of a clear educational gap. Research by Engineering UK found that eight in ten parents believe their children are interested in a STEM career, yet only 32% of students feel they have sufficient knowledge of the opportunities available to them.

PIF, a Principal Partner of Formula E, has backed the programme as part of its broader commitment to electric motorsport, sustainability and future mobility.
