Oscar Piastri converted pole position into victory at the Chinese Grand Prix, making up for the heartbreak of spinning in his home race.
Lando Norris finished in second to secure McLaren's 50th one-two, whilst George Russell completed the podium for Mercedes.
The race itself was relatively uneventful; however, post-race checks saw Charles Leclerc, Pierre Gasly and Lewis Hamilton all disqualified in unbelievable fashion.
So, who has made the RacingNews365 list of winners and losers for the 2025 F1 Chinese Grand Prix?
Viewed by others:
Winner - Oscar Piastri
As is usually the case, the biggest winner of the Chinese GP was the actual winner himself!
Piastri entered the grand prix with a clear point to prove after spinning in his home race, and looked sensational in Shanghai throughout the event.
He finished second in the sprint race prior to claiming pole position and the grand prix win, meaning he was just one-point short of taking home the maximum on offer.
Piastri was calm, calculated and clinical, whilst Norris made several mistakes which cost him crucial points. The Australian driver has jumped to fourth in the drivers' standings and looks like the real deal in 2025.
Loser - Ferrari
Hamilton's sprint victory suddenly feels like a distant memory, given Ferrari suffered a first double disqualification in its F1 history.
Leclerc was disqualified after his car was found to have been under the minimum legal weight, whilst Hamilton had too much wear on his skid-block.
It has cost Ferrari major points; however, the Scuderia would have been in this category even without the post-race drama.
Ferrari's pace just vanished after Hamilton's comfortable sprint victory, with the Italian outfit having never looked in the fight for pole or a podium. Two round complete, and huge questions for the team to answer.
Winner - George Russell
Russell has been a bit of an unsung hero across the first two grands prix in 2025 and is just quietly sliding under the radar.
Two races, two third place finishes, that is a very solid start to the British driver's campaign. Russell has looked good in Mercedes' W16, and can certainly hurt McLaren it would seem.
He has taken on the role of being the Silver Arrows' leader superbly and has been one of the most consistent drivers across Australia and China.
The 27-year-old has scored 35 points and is third in the standings, just nine points adrift of Norris who clearly has more mistakes in him.
Loser - Liam Lawson
Just how much pressure is Liam Lawson under? Well, the post-race speculation about his Red Bull future answers that question.
Lawson is enduring a nightmare at Red Bull and is already being rumoured as at risk of a demotion back to Racing Bulls for the Japanese Grand Prix.
He qualified in last for the both the sprint race and the grand prix, whilst he only recovered to 12th in the main race even after the three disqualifications were taken into account.
It is clear the RB21 is a car with a lot of issues, proven by Max Verstappen also complaining about it. Nevertheless, time is already not on Lawson's side, with a Red Bull meeting taking place this week.
Winner - Haas
Haas are perhaps the most extraordinary winner of the Chinese GP, given the American team was the biggest loser in Australia!
It was absolutely nowhere throughout the season-opener, resulting in the team itself to sound the alarms.
However, fast-forward to Shanghai and Haas' package looked very competitive, to the extent that Esteban Ocon finished in a remarkable fifth.
To add to Haas' delight, Oliver Bearman secured a double-points finish for the outfit after finishing in eighth, boosting the team to sixth in the standings.
Loser - Racing Bulls
Racing Bulls are arguably the most competitive midfield team this season, with Yuki Tsunoda and Isack Hadjar having shown excellent pace in China.
Both drivers started in the top 10 and found themselves mid-race in seventh and ninth, respectively.
Unfortunately, the Red Bull sister team got its strategy completely wrong by putting both drivers on a two-stop strategy.
The majority of the drivers managed to make a one-stop work, leaving Hadjar and Tsunoda to finish in 11th and 16th. Despite brilliant pace in both rounds, Racing Bulls has just three points.
