Pirelli has outlined a two-stop strategy is the most likely route all teams will undertake during the Chinese Grand Prix on Sunday.

Tyre degradation was a major factor during the sprint race on Saturday as many drivers struggled on the medium compound towards the end of the shorter event.

It is likely that all teams will look to the medium compound once again for the race start with the first pit window opening from lap 14 to 20.

From there, a set of hard compounds appears to be the strongest choice, even though the white-walled C2 tyre has not been in use throughout the weekend.

From lap 32 to 40, the second pit window will open during which drivers will likely switch back to the medium compound until the end of the race.

The high tyre degradation during the sprint may deter teams from seeking to run the soft tyre.

However, Pirelli outlined an option to use the C4 compound exists in the opening stint, albeit with an earlier first pit stop between laps 8 and 14.

From there, two stints on the hard compound would be utilised until the end.

Although a two-stop seems the most likely option, Pirelli Head of F1 told media including RacingNews365 that a three-stop strategy is not out of the equation.

Oscar Piastri will start the Chinese Grand Prix from pole position, sharing the front row with Mercedes' George Russell.
