Redevelopments of the Hungaroring are underway, following its contract extension to host Formula 1 races until 2027.

The circuit changed ownership to the State Secretariat for Sport last year, which is part of Hungary's Department of Defence.

As a result, a host of changes will be made to the circuit's facilities including a new pit lane complex, control tower, media centre, and main entrance.

Video from a drone over the circuit shows the recent works, which includes 20,000 cubic metres of Earth being removed, 5,000 cubic metres of concrete demolished, and a total of 345 tonnes of reinforcing steel being transported - which is equivalent in weight to a Boeing 747 passenger jet.

Hungary targets 2026 completion

The redevelopment will be completed in phases in between hosting the Hungarian Grands Prix, with a target completion date being before the 2026 race in Budapest.

The circuit will also implement changes to bring it up to standards to host a round of the MotoGP.

Check out how the planned changes will look in the video below.
