Video: Why don't F1 cars have airbags?

A Formula 1 car includes a range of innovative features, but why are airbags not one of them?

F1 cars might be worlds away from the vehicles that many of us drive on the roads, but they do share some features.

However, one difference between the two is that, in Formula 1, airbags are absent.

In road cars, these are used to protect drivers and passengers in the event of a collision.
